Mykola Yakovlevich Myaskovskii (Russian: ??????? ????????? ??????????); (April 8 (20) 1881, Modlin, Poland - August 8, 1950, Moscow) - Russian and Soviet composer, teacher. People's Artist of the USSR (1946), Doctor of Art Studies (1940). Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1941, 1946 — twice, 1950, 1951, posthumously).

Biographical information

He graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory in the composition class of A.K. Lyadov, N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov. For 25 years (since 1921), he was a professor at the Moscow Conservatory, during which time he educated 80 students, including Dmytro Kabalevskyi and Aram Khachaturyan.

 

The author's works include 27 symphonies (1908—1949), 3 symphonies, concertos for instruments with orchestra, 13 string quartets (1930—1949), 9 sonatas and cycles of piano pieces, vocal works, etc. Articles about music.
